
VASCO: In a significant operation, the Vasco Police have apprehended a 24-year-old man for illegal possession of narcotic substances. The arrest was made on Sunday morning near Joggers Park, Chicalim.
According to a police report filed by PSI Prisly Carvalho, the accused, identified as Khajappa Gaikwad, a resident of Vaddem Vasco, was found with 1.02 kg of dry, greenish stems, flowering, and fruiting substances suspected to be ganja. The confiscated substance, valued at approximately Rs 1,00,000, was seized during a routine patrol between 6:15 am and 9:15 am.
The accused has been charged under Section 20 (A)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. He was formally arrested at 10:50 am, and the police have confirmed that all Supreme Court guidelines were followed during the arrest.
Further investigations into the case are underway, led by PSI Prisly Carvalho. Police are working to trace the source of the narcotics and determine if the accused has any links to a larger drug distribution network.
