PANAJI: Para Swimming-Paralympic Committee of India chairman Dr V K Dabas, announced that a total of 518 para-swimmers from 28 states will compete in the National Para Swimming Championship-2024.

These athletes represent various disability groups, including ten categories for physical impairments, three for visual impairments, and one for intellectual impairments, encompassing a total of fourteen categories.

The championship is scheduled to take place from October 19 to 22 at the Campal Swimming Pool in Panaji.

In his remarks prior to the event, Dr Dabas, a pioneer in Paralympic swimming in India since its inception in 1996 and the founder of the Para Swimming Federation of India in 2000, encouraged the people of Goa to attend the championship.

He urged them to witness the remarkable skills of the para swimmers and to provide encouragement for their exceptional swimming abilities.
