PANAJI: North Goa Police achieved a major breakthrough by arresting six persons involved in assault case of Mandrem former sarpanch Mahesh Konadkar.
The arrested persons have been identified as Vishwanath Harijan, a resident of Kadamba Road, Old Goa; Suresh Naik, from Socorro-Porvorim; Sairaj Govekar, residing in Maina-Pilerne; Franky Nadar, of St. Agustin Waddo, St. Cruz; Manish Hadfadkar, from Bhaktawaddo, Chorao, Ilhas; and Uddesh Shetty, a resident of Altinho, Panaji.
According to North Goa SP Akshat Kaushal, all the accused were captured in Karwar, Karnataka, after fleeing Goa to avoid arrest. In response to the incident, specialized teams were established to ensure the apprehension of all individuals involved in the crime. Given the case’s sensitivity, a dedicated team was formed at the district level to facilitate the arrests, said North Goa SP .
Previously, one individual had already been arrested in connection with this case, and the vehicle utilized during the commission of the crime has been seized.
The Special Team involved in this operation comprised PSI Vishal Mandrekar, head constable Nitin Naik, and constables Nitesh Mulgaonkar, Raj Parab, Pranay Gawas, Rupesh Asgaonkar, along with technical staff head constable Harish Palyekar and constables Aniket Sawant and Ramanish Madkaikar. Additionally, Investigating Officer PSI Kunal Naik is continuing the investigation under the supervision of Ashish Shirodkar, SDPO Pernem, Narayan Chimulkar, PI of Mandrem police station, and the overall oversight of North Goa Superintendent of Police Akshat Kaushal.
