ONLINE APPLICATION FOR NEW DOMESTIC CONNECTIONS AND E-REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGES
PANAJI: Online application for new domestic connections and e-registration of marriages will be formally launched in Goa from Monday, November 16, informed Power Minister Nilesh Cabral on Tuesday.
Also Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) reports of three projects namely railway double tracking, national highway expansion and Tanmar power transmission project have been uploaded on the website of the Department of Environment and Climate Change, he added.
Speaking to media persons, Cabral said that from Monday, the consumers will have to submit online application forms for new domestic power connection and after processing the form the applicant and not the engineers will have the right to decide the inspection date.
“We are introducing simplified and transparent system and do away harassment of the applicants. A separate monitoring mechanism will be set up in the electricity department to streamline the entire process,” he said.
Similarly for e-registration of marriages, the applicants will have to pay the required fees online and then they will also have the right to generate appointment for the suitable date and time through the system itself.
Reacting to the criticism, Cabral said that the website of the department of environment and climate change has now been migrated on a superior platform.
The Power Minister said that the One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme for power consumers to pay outstanding bills will full or part waiver of delayed payment charges (DPC) will open from December 1, 2020.
The scheme will be applicable to active consumers with accumulated arrears up to October 13, 2020 and consumers can avail one of the five options of repayment based on tenure of the repayment selected by the consumers. The OTS scheme will be valid for one-month only, Cabral said.
“I have given target to my department and trying to incentivize staff to achieve 100 percent recovery,” the Minister said.
