This year’s “Gomant Vibhushan Award” the highest and prestigious award presented by the State of Goa is being conferred on, Shri. Vinayak Vishnu Khedekar from the field of Folk Art for the year 2019-20 and Pt. Prabhakar Janardan Karekar from the field of Indian Classical Music for the year 2021-22. The awards will be presented to Shri. Vinayak Vishnu Khedekar and Pt. Prabhakar Janardan Karekar on ‘Goa Statehood Day’, i.e. Tuesday, 30 May 2023 from 10.45 a.m. onwards at Darbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula, Goa.
The award will be presented to Shri. Vinayak Khedekar and Pt. Prabhakar Karekar at the hands of Chief Minister of Goa Dr. Pramod Sawant, in the esteemed presence of Minister for Art & Culture Shri. Govind Gaude, Leader of Opposition Shri. Yuri Alemao, Chief Secretary Shri. Puneet Kumar Goel, Secretary Art & Culture Shri. Menino D’Souza, IAS and Secretary Information & Publicity Shri. Subhash Chandra, IAS.
Also an exhibition of photographs of the achievements of Shri. Vinayak Khedekar and Pt. Prabhakar Karekar will be inaugurated on the occasion at 11.10 a.m. followed by a screening of an Audio Visual Documentary film on Shri. Vinayak Khedekar and Pt. Prabhakar Karekar and award presentation ceremony at Darbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula, Goa.
