He was speaking as the chief guest at the 1st All Diwar 6 Overs Heavy Ball Cricket Tournament organised by Diwar Veterans on Sunday.
The winners won Rs 10,000 and trophy, while the runners-up were awarded Rs 6,0000 and trophy. Congratulating the teams, especially the winners, and organisers of the tournament, the MLA assured to provide financial support to all sporting events in the constituency. “I assure to financially support with Rs 20,000 for laying of the pitch of this ground. Work can start tomorrow itself. I will even provide any other donations for sports-related development,” he said, and added that all pending works are being taken up.
Faldessai urged the organisers to conduct the tournament twice a year for the benefit of sportspersons. “I was told that this tournament is being organsed after a gap of around 14 years. While commending the organisers for this tournament, I urge them to organise the tournament twice a year. Divar has a lot of talented players. I feel happy when I see names of our teams and players in the newspapers, winning accolades and awards,” he said.
He also exhorted citizens to focus on their fitness. “To remain fit, one must engage in sporting activities as it is important.
