Bhagwan Mahaveer Foundation, Tamil Nadu has invited nominations from eminent citizens of the country and administrators and the general public for 27th Mahaveer Awards. The awardees are selected by a Jury headed by Justice Shri M N Venkatachaliah, former Chief Justice of India.

Bhagwan Mahaveer Foundation is a Public Charitable Trust established by Shri Nugalchand Jain in 1994. The aim of the Foundation is to identify, encourage and honour individuals and institutions who are providing selfless service to the society and also encourage others to follow suit. Bhagwan Mahaveer Foundation has instituted the Mahaveer Awards in the four fields, each carrying a sum of Rs. 10,00,000 (Rs. Ten Lakhs), a citation and a memento. The nominations are sought in the fields of Non-Violence and Vegetarianism, Education, Medicine, Community and Social Service.

Every year, the Foundation receives nominations from almost all States of our country, which are placed before the Shortlisting Committee and the shortlisted nominations are submitted to the Selection Jury for deciding the awardees. The awards will be presented to the Awardees by eminent personalities like the President of India, Vice President, Governors, Chief Minister, Ministers etc in formal function, as informed by the Department of Information and Publicity.
