In a recent event organised by the Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, in collaboration with the Sattari Government Industrial Training Institution and Bicholim Government Industrial Training Institution, the Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant, highlighted the significance of fixed-term employment and urged individuals to prioritise skill acquisition and training for better career prospects. The Prime Minister National Apprenticeship Mela & Campus Placement, held at Ravindra Bhavan Sanquelim, served as a platform to showcase various apprenticeship opportunities and job placements.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant emphasized the need for a change in mindset regarding low salaries, urging individuals to invest in their own development through training and enrolment in apprenticeship programs. He stressed that acquiring necessary skills and training would open up doors to promising career opportunities. Dr Sawant also disclosed that the Goa tourism industry alone is expected to create approximately 2 lakhs job opportunities, which individuals should capitalize on.

The apprenticeship programs offered at the event were designed to last for a period of one to one and a half years, ensuring comprehensive training for the participants. A total of 54 Companies and four Government offices provided apprenticeship opportunities, while 576 candidates were enrolled for the event. There were 641 vacancies available in various fields, providing a wide range of options for aspiring apprentices.

Present at the event were Shri Gopal Surlakar, ZP Member; Shri Anand Kanekar, Vice Chairperson of Sanquelim Municipal Council; Shri Vithoba Ghadi, Vice Chairperson of Ravindra Bhavan Sanquelim; Shri Sitaram Gawas, Chairman of the Institute Management Committee, ITI, Sattari; Shri Brahmanand Desai, Councillor of Sanquelim Municipal Council; Shri John Caldeira, Assistant Director (Project); as well as staff members from Sattari and Bicholim ITI, and representatives from participating companies and government departments.

The event was smoothly conducted, with Smt Alcina Rebello serving as the compere. Shri S.S. Gaonkar, Deputy Director (Training), extended a warm welcome to all the guests, and Shri Nilesh Gawas, Principal of Sattari Government ITI, expressed gratitude through a vote of thanks
