Bastora, Mapusa – In a startling turn of events, a colossal rumod tree, estimated to be nearly 30 years old, uprooted itself, causing havoc in Telia Vaddo. The incident occurred at the residence of Alhad Naik, leaving residents stunned and requiring the prompt intervention of the Mapusa Firefighters.

Upon receiving an emergency call, the courageous fire brigade swiftly arrived at the scene to address the unfolding situation. With their expertise and precision, the firefighters diligently worked to clear the branches and debris left in the wake of the tree’s uprooting.

Miraculously, no human injuries were reported as a result of this extraordinary incident. However, the house of Alhad Naik sustained some damage, primarily affecting small portions of the roof. Local authorities and neighbors have rallied together to provide support and assistance to the affected family.

Eyewitnesses recount the terrifying moment when the massive fig tree toppled, causing a commotion and disrupting the tranquility of the neighborhood. “It was like something out of a movie. The ground shook, and before we knew it, the tree had fallen over. We were fortunate that nobody was hurt,” shared one resident, still in disbelief.

The age-old fig tree, renowned for its towering presence and majestic spread, has been a beloved part of the Telia Vaddo landscape for several decades. While the cause of its sudden uprooting remains uncertain, experts suggest that factors such as heavy rainfall, weakened roots, or even soil erosion may have played a role.

The Naik family, though shaken by the incident, expressed their gratitude for the timely response of the Mapusa Firefighters and the support they have received from the community. “We are thankful that everyone is safe and that the authorities were quick to arrive. It’s a difficult situation, but we will overcome it together,” said Alhad Naik, the homeowner.
