  3. Early detection of breast cancer is a boon to life: Beena Naik

Vasco, June 22: Mahila Congress President Beena Naik on Wednesday stated that early detection of breast cancer is a boon to life. She said that early detection ensures that timely treatment is done, which helps deter the growth of cancerous cells from the early stage. Beena Naik was speaking during the Breast Cancer Screening & awareness programme at Vasco. The program was organised jointly by Mahila Congress and Vasco Block Committee. Naik said that apart from self-examination, women should also visit their doctors if they suspect of cancer. “There is no need to be shy to get screened and checked about breast cancer. We need to examine it and stop the cancer spreading. We also should create awareness about this,” she said.

Beena Naik said that she intends to organise such programs so that they can help the majority of women. “We all need to work in this direction and help women,” she said. Vasco Block President Adv. Melwyn Fernandes said that early detection of cancer is a must and all women should remember that at the early stage if it is detected, it can be treated. Vasco Mahila Block President Manda alias Suchita Shirodker proposed a vote of thanks. Jennifer Carlos Almeida and others were present on the occasion.
