ONE ARRESTED FOR STEALING RAILWAY PASSENGER’S JEWELLERY

MARGAO: Konkan Railway police, Margao arrested a native of Kerala on Saturday and recovered stolen property including gold and cash worth Rs 2.20 lakh.

Konkan Railway police gave the name of the accused as Nikil Kumar, 27 from Kerala. The police recovered gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 2.20 lakh, which the accused had stolen from a passenger at the Margao railway station. 

Konkan Railway PI Hiru Kavlekar said that the accused entered Mangala Express train the Margao railway station at night and  committed theft of gold ornaments like mangalsutra, one gold bangle, Rs 1500 in cash, ATM card, Aadhar card, mediclaim card etc.

Kumar was accosted by the Karwar police at the Karwar railway station and after interrogation, informed the Konkan Railway police, who took his custody and recovered the entire stolen property.

The accused will be produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Margao on Sunday, November 15 for remand, informed PI Kavlekar.
