Panaji: Urging students to focus on education, Goa Rehabilitation Board Chairman and Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai on Saturday said that parents also need to send their children for sports activities.

He was speaking at a distribution of school material to students of government primary schools in Cumbarjua function by Deccan Fine Chemicals as part of their corporate social responsibility. Also present were Corlim Sarpanch Baptista Periera, Deputy Sarpanch Corlim Supriya Kerkar, Cumbarjua Panch Surendra Naik, Deccan Fine Chemicals Head for HR, admin and CSR, Yogesh Arora, Deccan Fine Chemicals Manager CSR, Gaurav Kudchadkar.

“Deccan Fine Chemicals has been working a lot in our constitutency as well as in the other areas of the state to help students. We need to support such companies. Education is very important in today’s times. Parents should also send their kids for sports and physical activities. This is important to remain fit. We will work to ensure no student remains backward in education, especially in the rural areas. I assure you all support. Even if anyone wants to start business or any other venture, I will render all assistance. Thanks to the generous contribution from Deccan Fine Chemicals under CSR initiative, school materials were distributed to students from government primary schools in the villages of Corlim, Old Goa, Carmbolim, Marcel, Boma, and Cumbarjua, ” Faldessai said.

Arora said that, “Among all the projects that we have undertaken, be it health, hygiene, sports, infrastructure, cultural, Community development, etc, this is the closest to my heart. We have been able to reach out to numerous kids. We see a bright future in you, from the perspective of your teachers, parents, etc. We want you to do whatever you want in your life, perform well, and achieve your goals, make your parents proud. Every year, we have been able to reach out to over 1500 students in 15 government primary schools in this area.”

Praising Deccan Fine Chemicals for their CSR work Pereira said, “There are times when the government is unable to provide all the facilities to government primary schools due to lot of expenditure. It is here that Deccan Fine Chemicals is doing a good job by focusing on education.”

In his address, Naik also praised the MLA as well as Deccan Fine Chemicals for working to boost the education sector in the constituency.
