Panaji: Countering statement of Tourism Minister that Congress leader Girish Chodankar should check his sodium level, Congress on Monday said that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should check whether the former has become a doctor obtainining fake certificate.
Congress leader Mahesh Mhambre on Monday addressed press conference in Mapusa and said “Sawant had recently said that there are fake doctors practicing in the coastal area, now he should check whether Khaunte has become doctor by obtaining fake certificates as he is advising our leader to check sodium level”
General secretary Vijay Bhike and Virendra Shirodkar were also present.
Mhambre pointed out that court has made observation in its order related to one matter of Porvorim that how fear is created among people. “However, instead of coming clear over it, Khaunte is diverting the issues,” Mhambre said, adding that Khaunte should not lose balance as more issues of Porvorim will be exposed soon.
“Rohan Khaunte this is just the beginning . Many skeletons are going to come out about Communidade de serula as I am the goankar of the said Communidade,” Mahambrey said
“Senior counsel Surendra Desai has said in open court that he too can be assaulted and even advocates and judges are not safe as lawyer Dr. Olav Albuquerque was assaulted by mob on Porvorim, when he had gone for site inspection of illegal houses conatructed on the hill of Salvador do Mundo.”He said.
“FIR which was lodged against Albuquerque was then quashed by High Court and had observed that how an advocate can be attacked when he did site inspection for his client. Court had said that nobody will come forward to complaint against illegal construction if such attacks takes place.”He added.
“Porvorim MLA should speak about such types of crimes happenning in his constituency. Why is he mum over detoriated law and order situation in Porvorim. Why is he silent on an audio clip that has gone viral which clearly shows that the top police officer threatened Sarpanch Roshani Sawaikar and her husband Rajesh Sawaikar on his behest. Either he should accept it or should file a complaint against the police officer for taking his name while threatening the couple.” Mhambre said.
“Why did Rohan not respond to HC order over quashing of fake FIR against Adv Albuquerque. Why Rohan had staged amorcha on police station demanding adv Albuquerque arrest” he questioned.
General secretary Vijay Bhike said that Rohan Khaunte should first introspect why he had to shift to Porvorim constituency by leaving Panaji. “If he had good connect with people of Panaji then he should have contested from there itself. Why he contested from Porvorim?” He questioned.
“By avoiding questions of Girish, he cant escape from ongoing jungle Raj in Porvorim. He should revive his political knowledge to know how many votes were secured by Chodankar when he contested Lok Sabha election against Shripad Naik… it was 1,64,597. Girish Won from Comba Ward with 80% votes in his favour 1995. He also got votes while he conteated against Manohar Parrikar in Panaji. Khaunte should gave dared to contest against Parrikar,” Bhike said.
“People have not forgotten that Rohan was defeated by Pritam Rane from Altinho Ward in Panjim municipal elections in his neighbourhood. Hence he should not challenge Girish chodankar on such issue. He should reply question raised by him. Rather than running away.” Bhike said.
“Atrocities against women, murders and other crimes are taking place in Porvorim. MLA should bring measures to control it if he cares for his people. Seems he is happy to see Porvorim turning into jungle Raj.” Bhike said.
Virendra Shirodkar said that Panch members are elected by people and hence they should decide about the panchayat. Khaunte should not suppress or blackmail them to do things as per his wish.
“Secondly he should not suppress Bahujan Samaj, they know to think and decide” he said.
