PANAJI: Emphasising on the need to organise cultural events to motivate the youth, Goa Rehabilitation Board Chairman and Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai on Sunday said that this ensures the youth do not follow the wrong path in life.

He was speaking at the conclusion of the 2-day Bhajan Competition organised at Shri Ram Temple, Rambhuvan Wada, Cumbharjua.

“We need to organise such cultural programmes to inspire and motivate them. When we hold such programmes, we ensure our children do not go wayward in their lives. When they see their parents, friends performing, they also get motivated to do the same. We plan to hold many more such programmes for our youth. We want to give them an opportunity through such platforms,” he said.

Stating that Cumbharjua has a rich cultural tradition, former panch member of Cumbharjua Prashant Bhandari praised MLA Faldessai for this initiative for the youth, and expressed confidence that he will continue to hold such events in the future.

Cumbharjua sarpanch Nandakumar Shet said that he was pleased to witness this event here in Cumbharjua due to the initiative of the MLA. “Due to Ganesh Chaturthi, an atmosphere of festivity has been created with this Bhajan Competition. Cumbarjua is known as the land of artists. Youngsters should take time, come forward for such events and participate and showcase their talents,” he said.

The 1st Prize of Rs 50,000 was awarded to SHREE SATERI KELBAI KALA ANI SANSKRUTIK MANDAL, Bicholim.
The 2nd Prize of Rs 30,000 was bagged by SHREE RAVALNATH BHAJANI MANDAL, Navelim Sankhli.
The 3rd Prize of Rs 20,000 was won by SHRI SHANTADURGA BHAJANI MANDAL, Kavlem Ponda.
Also present were Dy Sarpanch, Vrinda Joshi; panch members, Surendra Naik, Sachin Gaude, Sudhir Phadte; Ex Panch, Prashant Bhandari; Chairman Ram Temple Committee, Suraj Tari and Social worker, Babu Raikar.
The Judges at the event were Amit Bhosle, Pandurang Rawool and Tulsidas Navelkar.
