The Goa State Legal Services Authority in coordination with High Court of Bombay at Goa and under the aegis of NALSA organized an awareness programme on Swachhata Hi Seva -2023 at High Court of Bombay at Goa Porvorim today.
Sr. Advocate High Cort Norma Alvares who was the key-note speaker in her address stressed on the need for assessment coupled with improvement in the ongoing garbage disposal system. Garbage being manmade creation need self introspection to avoid massive garbage generation and one should opt for reducing garbage. She said we need to look upon as to how garbage could be least generated and its proper disposal.
There is tremendous use of plastic particularly the use of water in plastic bottle she pointed and suggested to make provision of clean drinking water at public places can be done in our country as done in some developed countries. The High Court is very serious in tackling garbage problems in Goa with its time to time decisions making the Government and other local self bodies to implement policy to get rid off garbage issue in Goa she added.
President of Goa High Court Bar Association Adv. Coelho Pereira in his welcome address spoke about the importance of cleanliness in line with Gandhian point of view. He said Goa Government have initiated various measures to tackle the issue of garbage in Goa he informed.
Sr. Justice Shri Mahesh Sonak, Shri Justice Prakash Naik, Justice Shri Bharat Deshpande, Advocate General Goa Adv Devidas Pangam, Registrar Admn. Shri Dinesh Shetty were among others present at the function.
Secretary Goa High Court Bar Association Adv. Gaurish Agni compered the function while Member Secretary GLSA Adv. Vijaya Ambre proposed the vote of thanks.
