• Tejas Ashok Shirse of Maharashtra breaks the 110 M Hurdles Games Record

Goa, October 30th, 2023: Priyanka Goswami of Uttar Pradesh broke the games record to win the gold in the 20 KM Race Walk event in the athletics competition of the 37th National Games held in the morning at the Athletics Stadium, Bambolim.

Priyanka finished in 1:36:35 sec breaking the record of Munita Prajapati, who won the bronze medal. Maharashtra’s Sejal Anil Singh finished in 1:41:13 sec to win the silver. Tejas Ashok Shirse of Maharashtra also eclipsed the games record in the 110 M Hurdles in the heats to qualify with the fastest time for the final, stopping the clock at 13.80 sec. Siddhant Thingalaya held the earlier record of 13.83 made at the 2015 National Games in Kerala.

In the men’s 20 Km walk, Suraj Panwar of Uttarakhand won gold with a timing of 1:27:43 sec. SSCB’s Servin won the silver with a timing of 1:41:13 sec and Hardeep of Haryana won the bronze in 1:42:24 sec. In Table Tennis competition at the Campal Multipurpose Indoor Stadium, West Bengal beat Assam and Delhi beat Maharashtra to book their places in the finals of the Men’s Team event. West Bengal got the better of Assam 3-1, with Anirban Ghosh, Ankur Bhattacharya and Jeet Chandra winning their singles matches.

 In the other semi-final Delhi beat Maharashtra 3-2 for a place in the finals. Sudhanshu Grover beat experienced campaigner Sanil Shetty in the all-important fourth game to stretch the game to the decider.

In the decider, Yashansh Malik beat Siddhesh Pande in four sets to send Delhi to the finals. In the women’s semi-finals, Haryana comprehensively beat West Bengal 3-0 without dropping a single game while Maharashtra beat Madhya Pradesh 3-0 for a place in the finals.

In Billiards and Snooker at the Peddem Sports Complex, vastly experienced B. Bhaskar of Karnataka beat Rohan Jambhusaria of Maharashtra in the final to win the gold medal. Aamer Hussain of West Bengal and Ketan Chawla of Madhya Pradesh won the bronze medals.
