Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has extended his heartiest greetings to the people of Goa on the historic and auspicious occasion of Liberation Day of our beautiful State, which attained freedom from 450 years of Portuguese rule on December 19, 1961.

Dr.Sawant in his message to the people of Goa said, “On this momentous day, I extend my warm greetings to my Goenkars. Our freedom fighters fought hard and sacrificed their lives to let future generations live with dignity. Today, we recall with pride the bravery and contribution of the freedom fighters during the long-lasting freedom struggle. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude towards these stalwarts of liberation. December 19, 1961, is indeed a historic and remarkable day in Goa’s history.”he asserted.

Further in his message CM said, “We recognise the efforts of the leaders who worked tirelessly to build our State after Liberation. The government is inspired by their vision. The State has socially, economically stood strong, shining and holding tight to its cultural heritage till date. Goa has been making remarkable progress in education, health, public welfare sectors. Goa will continue to flourish and achieve new heights.”

“Today, as we commemorate liberation day, let us work towards the progress of the State through the government’s initiative of ‘Swayampurna Goa’. Let us all march to achieve the goal of advancement through united efforts. Let us rededicate ourselves to achieve progress in all spheres,” Dr. Sawant added.

“We salute our armed forces for their valor. On this day Let us pay tributes to the freedom fighters who fought for the liberation of our State from the colonial rule. The Chief Minister wished good health and prosperity to our citizens. Happy Goa Liberation Day to everyone,” the Chief Minister concluded.
