CCP ACTS TOUGH AGAINST HAPHAZARD PARKING IN PANAJI

PANAJI: The Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) staff with the help of Panaji Traffic Police on Wednesday night towed 54 two-wheelers and clamped 17 four-wheelers for wrong and haphazard parking in the city. They also collected a total fine of Rs 28,000 from traffic violators.

CCP Mayor Uday Madkaikar held a meeting in the presence of Panaji MLA Babush Monserrate along with commissioner Sanjit Rodrigues, DySP (Traffic) Salim Shaikh and Traffic Cell PI to discuss on various parking issues faced by the residents of Panaji especially during the night.

Madkaikar warned that stringent fines will be imposed on those vehicles found parked in `No Parking’ zones and on footpaths. Regular drives will be carried out at night from Thursday, November 19 in a bid to streamline vehicular movement.
