ALDONA: Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira has urged the youth to come forward to take up agriculture activities. He also urged the government to repairs bunds and assist farmers.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the improvement of the Coimavaddo Talli, Coimavaddo.
Aldona panch members and farmers were also present.
“This pond is important for farmers as this is a natural water body. We had put forth a proposal to WRD minister Subhash Shirodkar when he visited this place for the work. It is being taken up at a cost of Rs 18.80 lakhs. I am happy that the WRD has worked to ensure our proposal is taken forward. I thank the minister, chief engineer Pramod Badami, AE Vinoo Naik and other engineers,” he said.
Ferreira said that the he would also propose beautification including seating arrangements of benches and lighting. “Thus will people to come and sit and enjoy this place with their children and enjoy nature,” he said.
“I thank the farmers for cultivating our fields. Our fields are destroyed. The youth are not coming forward to take up agriculture. I urge the government to repair the bunds and assist the farmers,” he said.
