Peddem, December 29, 2023: The State Boxing Championship held at Peddem proved to be a
resounding success, featuring spirited competition among 63 talented boxers in both Sub Junior and
Junior categories. Organized as a one-day championship, the event showcased the commitment and skill
of young athletes from across the region.
On this occasion, Organising Secretary Macline Mendonca shared his enthusiasm, stating, “The response
from the boxers at the sub junior and junior state championship has been overwhelming. GABA is of the
idea of ‘setting your goals high and not stopping till you get there.’ In spite of the vacation, boxers
represented in good numbers, which makes me feel we are on the right track and boxing will scale great
heights.”
The prize distribution ceremony, held on the same day, recognized exceptional performances. In Sub-
Junior Girls, Mamta Raut from SAI secured victory against Laxmi Lamani SDM(A), while Ruchika Dhirwar
from SAI triumphed over Dikshita Shah by RSC. In Sub-Junior Boys, notable victories included Vignesh
from RCC Peddem, Mohammad Lahiah from MBC, and Arjun Lamani from SDM(A).
In Junior Girls, Sejal Ingle RCC Peddem won against Khushi Ramyali SDM(A), Rihana Alam from RCC
Peddem triumphed over Aarna Mishra SAI, and Priya Sharma from SDM(A) emerged victorious against
Payal Roy SAI(A). In Junior Boys, Vishal Lamani from SDM(A), Raunak Nimboria from SDM(A), and Ritesh
from SDM(A) showcased their skill and determination.

The event also acknowledged the Best Boxers:

  • Best Boxer (Junior Boy’s): Raunak Nimboriya, 57 kg, SDM Porvorim Centre.
  • Best Boxer (Junior Girl’s): Priya Sharma, 46 kg, SDM Porvorim Centre.
  • Best Boxer (Sub Junior Girl’s): Mamta Raut, 40 kg, SAI.
  • Best Boxer (Sub Junior Boy’s): Vignesh, 37 kg, RCC Peddem.

Team Championship honors went to Salvador do Mundo Boxing Coaching Centre Porvorim, Coach
chidambaram naik, securing a total of 22 points with 5 Gold and 8 Silver. RCC Peddem , Coach Nilesh
Khanolkar emerged as the runner-up with a total of 15 points, including 4 Gold and 2 Silver.The State
Boxing Championship not only celebrated the prowess of these young athletes but also underscored the
vibrant and competitive spirit within the boxing community.
