● The 3-day Summit will create a platform to present sustainability solutions through Conference and Exhibition

Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as an Industry partner and Manthan – Ideas and Implementation through Science, Technology and Innovations, O/o Principal Scientific Advisor, Govt. of India is organizing 2nd International Environment & Sustainability Summit Goa (IESSG) on 8-10 February 2024 at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Bambolim, Goa.

This Summit will be inaugurated at the hands of our Hon’ble Chief Minister – Dr. Pramod Sawant in the presence of Shri Bhupender Yadav, Hon’ble Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India as a Guest of Honour and Hon’ble Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Goa – Mr. Aleixo Sequeira on 8th February 2024 at 10.30 a.m. Mr. Suresh Prabhu, Founding Chancellor, of Rishiwood University, Former Rajya Sabha Member, and Former Union Minister will deliver the keynote address. A valedictory session is planned on 10th February 2024 at 02.30 p.m. at the same venue.

The theme of the event is “Structuring the Present for a Sustainable Future: Our Commitment to Actions,” which aims to foster an understanding of present sustainability solutions and best practices, sharing experiences, success stories, and innovative ideas; and building networks and enhancing the learning experience.

The summit underscores the need for strong commitments to adopt solutions facilitating a transition to a carbon-neutral future while prioritizing circularity and inclusivity. It serves as a platform for understanding present sustainability solutions, sharing experiences, success stories, and innovative ideas, and building networks to enhance the learning experience.

Key Highlights of the event are:
• Conference: The summit will host a three-day conference featuring captivating deliberations and intellectual insights that inspire innovation, action, and solutions toward a sustainable future.
• Exhibition: The exhibition will showcase demonstrated innovations and technological solutions leading to a sustainable tomorrow. Participants from industries, ministries,य government departments, academia, financial institutions, civil society, consultants, bilateral/multilateral agencies, research scholars, and educational institutions are expected to attend. Focus on Green Building: The exhibition will highlight the concept of ‘Green Building,’ emphasizing environmentally responsible and resource-efficient practices throughout a building’s life cycle.

Dignitaries attending the summit include Dr. Pramod Sawant (Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Goa), Shri. Bhupendra Yadav (Hon’ble Union Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change), Shri. Aleixo Sequeira (Minister for Law & Judiciary, Environment, Captain of Ports & Legislative Affairs, Government of Goa), Shri. Suresh Prabhu (Founding Chancellor, Rishihood University, Former Rajya Sabha Member), Dr. Sharmila Monteiro (Member Secretary, GSPCB), and Shri. Mahesh Patil (Chairman, GSPCB).

The three-day international summit will bring together ideas and thought leadership that will inspire action to drive growth leading to a resilient future and will include ten plenary sessions, namely:

(ii) Green credits
(iii) Sustainable mining
(iv) Circular economy
(v) Climate finance
(vi) Greening of industries
(vii) Scaling up green technology
(viii) Pathways to sustainable development
(ix) Water security and conservation
(x) Biodiversity conservation

The speakers who will be delivering insightful information are Ms. Divya Sharma, Executive Director, Climate Group, India; Mr. Shikhar Jain, Executive Director, CII – ITC Center of Excellence for Sustainable Development; Ms. Ruhana Zariwala, Global Head, Sustainability, Cipla Ltd.; Ms. Ekta Narain, Co-Founder and CBO, Recycle; Mr. Mudit Jain, Head of Research, Tata Cleantech Capital Limited; Mr. N. Muthusezhiyan, Deputy Executive Director, CII; Dr. Sapna Poti, Director, Strategic Alliances Division, O/o Principal Scientific Adviser, Govt. of India; Mr. Rajat Varma, Founder & CEO, Lohum Cleantech; Mr. Awadhesh Jha, Executive Director, GLIDA; Mr. Avijit Ghosh, EAC (NCM), Ministry of Environment,. Forests & Climate Change; Mr. S.A. Sundaresan, Vice President, New Technologies, Ashok Leyland; Dr. Pradip Sarmukadam, Member Secretary, Goa State Biodiversity Board; Mr. Vivek Talwar, Founder, Chrysalis, Dr. Pankaj Kumar, National Technical Expert, UNIDO, Shri Prashant Gargava, Director, National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), & Ms. Reva Prakash, Deputy Team Leader and Project Coordinator, EU-REI, GIZ, Dr. Claude Alvares, Director, Gou Foundation.

The exhibition is also parallelly proposed whereby industrial units/service providers will display and demonstrate the latest technological interventions/instrumentation/process methodology to address the issues related to environmental monitoring. Thus, it will showcase environmental innovations and technological solutions in tune with the theme.

GSPCB requests all industries to participate in the Summit to take benefit of important discussions and deliberations from eminent speakers and experts in the relevant subjects of sustainability. The environment technology exhibition is open to the general public & Goan Industries should visit the stalls to understand the latest technology and services in environment management practices. Students from various colleges especially engineering colleges should attend as there is a special pavilion for startups as well as mentoring through ‘Manthan’.

The concluding ceremony will be held on 10/02/2024 from 02:30 pm to 04:00 pm in the august presence of Dr. Pramod Sawant – Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Aleixo Sequeira, Hon’ble Minister for Environment and Climate Change – Govt of Goa.
