BEACH SHACK RAIDED AT ARAMBOL, TWO HELD FOR POSSESSING DRUGS

PERNEM: The Pernem police on Friday raided a beach shack at Arambol and arrested two persons on the charge of possessing narcotics ganja and charas.

Both the persons were working in the staff and were involved in drug peddling.

The police laid a trap and posing as customers finally raided the Shack and arrested Vikas Ranjit Singh (42) and  Mahendra Shersingh Thakur (25),  both natives of Himachal Pradesh and seized ganja and charas, totally valued at Rs 20,000 from the shack.

It is learnt that one of the accused Vikas Ranjit Singh had taken the shack on rent from a local person and he was running it while Mahendra Thakur was working in the shack.

A case hs been registered against both the accused under section 20(b) (ii) (A) of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Pernem PI Jovba Dalvi informed that the police have sent letters to the Department of Tourism and the Excise Department for cancellation of the tourism licence and the excise licence granted to the shack owner.

The raiding team was led by PI Dalvi and consisted of PSI Vivek Halarnkar and constables Ravi Maloji, Anishkumar Poke, Fati Naik, Devidas Malkar and Uday Gosavi.

The raid was conducted under the supervision of SP North  Shobit Saksena, IPS and Mapusa SDPO Gajanan Prabhudessai.

Further investigation is in progress.
