Imagine Panaji Smart City Development (IPSCDL), in collaboration with Goa Natural Gas Pvt. Ltd. (GNGPL), today commissioned Piped Natural Gas (PNG) line at the Pai Bhavan Society in Tonca, Miramar, Panaji on the occasion of International Women’s Day, 8th March 2024.

The  PNG connections  under the Smart City Mission  for Panaji  was  commissioned in the presence of  Mr. Sanjit Rodrigues, IAS, MD & CEO of IPSCDL and  officials  of GNGPL, IPSCDL  and residents of Pai Bhavan, Tonca.

The introduction of this infrastructure under the Smart City Mission marks a significant milestone in the advancement of natural gas facilities within the city of Panaji.

IPSCDL opted to commission the PNG initiative on Women’s Day reiterating that women of Panaji deserve quality infrastructure and facilities and the new initiative would make their lives easy, safe and healthier.

In conjunction with IPSCDL, GNGPL is poised to initiate gasification efforts in the Ribandar area during the month of March, demonstrating its dedication to sustainable energy solutions. As part of the Smart City Mission aimed at delivering Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in Panaji, approximately 3000 households in Central Panaji, as well as another 3000 connections in St. Inez, are scheduled to be serviced in the coming weeks. Furthermore, beyond residential connections, IPSCDL and GNGPL are actively engaged in extending PNG services to all commercial establishments, including restaurants and hotels. IPSCDL has urged people of Panaji to come forward and get connected with PNG and also released contact details of GNGPL

PNG, priced 17 to 20% lower than LPG, offers a hassle-free one-time connection billed through a meter system. It emits 33% less CO2 than coal and 12% less than oil, with minimal black carbon emissions. IPSCDL’s decision to launch the PNG initiative on Women’s Day underscores its commitment to providing quality infrastructure to improve the lives of Panaji’s citizens, ensuring their safety, ease, and health, while promoting environmental sustainability.
