Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldesai celebrated International Women’s Day with the women of his constituency at the BJP office in Old Goa.

Faldessai felicitated the self empowered women belonging to the Self Help Groups and the Mahila Mandal of the BJP with gifts on the occasion that commemorates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

Faldesai handed over gifts to a large group of women who had gathered around him on the occasion.

Addressing the women, Faldessai encouraged them to continue to strive for independence in the field of economic, technological, political and professional progress and not be dependent on men in any of the above fields but to take success into their own hands.

“Today we see, India is no country for women. They are being attacked, harassed, abused and their attackers roam the streets with a sense of impunity. But the women of this country are not to be bowed down by these attacks. They have taken upon themselves to stand up against oppression,” Faldessai said.

“He also pointed out how patriarchy is being crushed in the country through women in the workplace taking upon themselves leadership roles that help encourage others to also do the same,” he added.

He called on women to support each other and show solidarity with each other and stand up for each other when being oppressed and to fight for their reservation at the political level.

The function ended with a vote of thanks.
