On 21 June 2024 the Staff and students of PM SHRI Government High School Morpirla celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm. The function began with a prayer and Headmistress Morena Miranda highlighting the importance of Yoga and different postures and encouraged students to make yoga a part of their daily routine. The theme for the day was “ Yoga for Self and Society.”


The staff and students performed various Yoga asanas on the occasion. The event aimed to promote the physical and mental well-being of the school students , teachers and community through the practice of yoga. The day was filled with various activities designed to educate and engage participants in the ancient practice of yoga.
Firstly the participants started with simple warm-up exercises to prepare the them for the yoga session followed by the Yoga prayer. Later the physical education sir along with the yoga instructor, led the students through a series of basic yoga asana including Padmasana, Vajrasana, Matyasan, Chakrasana, Sarvangasana, Bhujangasana which focus on the overall health of the individual to manage stress and maintain physical fitness.
A brief talk was given about the history and significance of International Yoga Day by Tr Cassy Carneiro , explaining its origins and global recognition. Students also shared their personal experiences with yoga and discussed how it has benefited them.


The session ended with a short guided meditation to help students relax and reflect. The event concluded with a group reflection session where students shared their experiences and what they learned from the day. The Headmistress delivered a thank you note, expressing gratitude to everyone involved in making the event a success and encouraging regular practice of yoga.
