  3. BJP’s son-in-law MVR strikes again, Pernem Highway in Shambles: AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and volunteers from Pernem and Mandrem held a protest against the poor condition of the National Highway at Malpe, Pernem. AAP leaders condemned the BJP government for failing to take stringent action against the MVR contractor, notorious for its substandard work across Goa. The BJP government is treating MVR like a favored “son-in-law” and remains silent on the matter.

While addressing the media in Pernem on Sunday, AAP’s Working President Valmiki Naik took a jab at the BJP government, claiming that MVR has become like a son-in-law to the BJP, explaining their silence on MVR’s involvement in major infrastructure projects in Goa.

Naik added that since coming to power in 2012, the BJP government has been mired in corruption, looting common people and delivering substandard infrastructure. He noted that not only the Pernem National Highway, but also other infrastructure projects involving MVR, have been substandard to the point of collapse, delayed for years, or abandoned, causing significant issues.

Naik emphasised that AAP has been consistently raising concerns about poor road infrastructure across Goa. He announced that AAP will bring this issue to the assembly session and, if the government does not take immediate measures, AAP will move to the court for redressal.

AAP leader Devendra Prabhudesai remarked, “Pernem constituency roads are in the worst condition. The national highway was built two years ago, and already it is in poor condition. Many people face challenges due to these bad roads. Residents of Pernem have been raising their concerns, but both Pernem and Mandrem MLAs remain silent.”

Also present at the protest were AAP leaders Pundalik Dhargalkar, Chetan Kamat and Sunil Signapurkar.
