The Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities and Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in association with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), a Maharatna CPSE under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, launched a significant initiative to support persons with disabilities. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, HPCL has distributed modified two-wheelers, EV wheelchair bikes and communication devices that can significantly empower the lives of 32 persons with disabilities making their daily routines easier and more fulfilling. This initiative was facilitated by the Matoshree Sevadham Arogya Seva Trust (MAST) in partnership with HPCL and the Government of Goa.
The distribution ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Speaker, Shri Ramesh Tawadkar, Hon’ble Minister for Social Welfare, Shri Subhash Phal Dessai, MLA Margao, Shri Digambar Kamat alongwith other distinguished Ministers and MLAs. Also present at the event were the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Shri Guruprasad Pawaskar, Secretary, Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Shri E Valavan, IAS, and Director, Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Smt. Varsha Naik. HPCL’s Executive Director CSR & PRCC, Shri Rajeev Goel, along with other HPCL officials, were also in attendance to mark this momentous occasion.
Modified two-wheelers offer a versatile transportation option, while EV wheelchair bikes provide an eco-friendly solution for enhanced mobility. Communication devices bridge communication gaps, facilitating better interaction and inclusion in society. Together, these advancements contribute to a more accessible and inclusive world for people with disabilities. This initiative underscores the commitment of the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities in Goa, ensuring they have the necessary tools to lead more independent and fulfilling lives
