  3. Manish Sisodia’s bail is a victory against BJP’s political vendetta: Valmiki Naik

Aam Aadmi Party Working President Valmiki Naik expressed deep gratitude towards the Supreme Court for delivering justice to AAP leader Manish Sisodia, widely recognised as the architect of Delhi’s Education Model.

After 17 months of legal battles, the Supreme Court granted Sisodia bail, a decision Naik described as a landmark order that upholds the rights of all innocent individuals targeted by the BJP for cheap political reasons.

Speaking to the media in Panaji on Saturday, Naik highlighted the Supreme Court’s strong observations, wherein the justices emphasised that Sisodia was entitled to a “speedy trial” and that denying him this right would be a “travesty of justice.” The court likened the situation to forcing Sisodia to “play snakes and ladders,” stressing that in matters concerning the life and liberty of a citizen—a sacrosanct right guaranteed by the Constitution—a citizen should not be made to “run from pillar to post.” The court further stated that keeping the AAP leader in jail for an “unlimited time” without a trial violated his fundamental rights.

Naik underscored that education is key to addressing the country’s growing inequality, a belief central to AAP’s mission. He praised Sisodia for not only making promises but also acting on them over the past decade. Naik pointed out that on the very day the Supreme Court granted Sisodia bail, a new government school in Delhi was ready for inauguration—a testament to Sisodia’s dedication to transforming lives through education. Despite relentless harassment by the BJP, including a fabricated liquor scam designed to force him to betray Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Sisodia stood firm in his principles.

Naik also drew attention to the personal toll on Sisodia’s family. Sisodia’s mother is a senior citizen, and his wife is a person with Multiple Sclerosis, a chronic neurological disability recognised under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. Both require constant care and attention, yet Sisodia was kept away from his family for 17 months. Despite exhaustive efforts by the BJP and its allies, including the Enforcement Directorate, no evidence has been found against him.

Naik reiterated that the BJP’s attempt to jail Sisodia and other AAP leaders under false pretenses is part of a broader strategy to curb the growing popularity of AAP across India. He affirmed that AAP is not for sale and will continue to fight against the corruption and conspiracy of the BJP government.
