The Photo Journalists’ Association of Goa (PJAG) will felicitate Senior Photojournalist Dinesh Ramesh Sakhalkar and Senior Professional Photographer Rozendo Pereira on 19th August 2024, on the occasion of World Photography Day and PJAG Annual Day. The event will be held at the PJAG Art Gallery, Government Garage Premises, Opposite Don Bosco School, Panaji, at 12:00 PM, in association with the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Goa.
The Honorable Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, the Honorable Minister of Art and Culture, Shri Govind Gaude, and the Director of Information and Publicity, Shri Deepak Bandekar, have consented to grace the occasion with their presence.
About the Felicitated Veterans:
• Dinesh Ramesh Sakhalkar
A resident of Aquem, Malbhat, Margao, Dinesh Ramesh Sakhalkar began his career as a photojournalist in 1996. He has worked for several prominent newspapers in Goa, including Sunaparant, Rashtramat, Navhind Times, Tarun Bharat, Lokmat, and Pudhari. He is a founding member of PJAG and has served as Vice President of the Goa Union of Journalists, Vice President of the Sports Journalists Association, and General Secretary of the South Goa Journalists Association. Currently, he works for Dainik Pudhari Newspaper in Margao but on leave due to illness and manages his photo studio, Kalasagar Photo Studio.

• Rozendo Pereira
A resident of Vasco, Rozendo Pereira began his photography journey at the age of 18, driven by his passion for the art. He initially joined a studio in Vasco, where he worked for 14 years before establishing his own studio. Rozendo has covered numerous weddings, birthdays, and conferences, especially in Goa’s 5-star hotels, and is well-known across the state for his photographic skills. With over 45 years of experience in professional photography, he remains active in the field.

In addition to the felicitation ceremony, PJAG has also organized a Photo Exhibition featuring works by press photographers from Goa. Around twenty-four photojournalists will showcase their work at the exhibition, which will be open to the general public on 19th and 20th August 2024, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Prizes will also be awarded to the winners of PJAG’s State Level Photo Contest, “Goan Markets,” by the dignitaries present.
