GOA INCREASES FINE FOR NOT WEARING FACE MASK FROM RS 100 TO RS 200

PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Monday said that fine for not wearing face masks at public places in Goa will be increased from Rs 100 to Rs 200 from November 24 in the light of second wave and third wave of COVID-19 infection in some States.

Dr Sawant said “just because we have relaxed tourism activities does not mean people can roam without masks in public. He directed police, mamlatdars and village panchayat secretaries to charge Rs 200 for those found without masks”.

He said in other States they have reached the third phase of COVID-19 infesction and we need to take care.

The Chief Minister was speaking at the function where Goa Shipyard Limited donated ana dvanced life saving support ambulance to the Goa Police department under its CSR activity and also launched a ‘Women’s Whatsapp Helpline Number 7875756177.

Dr Sawant also praised the police for crime detection and for cracking down on drugs menace in the State.
