Cancer cervix is caused due to HPV ( human papilloma virus ) on which Vaccin now available which is very safe and to be taken by girls at the age group of 9 to 14 yrs which can give almost total immunity of cancer of cervix.
Rotary club of dona paula can Sponcer these vaccine which otherwise cost around 2000 rs To be taken in two doses of 6 months apart.
Around 100 Girl Students in the age groups of 9 to 14 yrs and their parents attended the lecture on women cancers specially on cancer of cervix n ovary held by dr shekhar salkar Oncosurgeon and chief of department of oncology manipal hospital goa.
He appealed to the parents to get their fir child in the age group of 9 to 14 yrs vaccinated.
