The virtual interaction programme was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development Government of India in collaboration with Department of Agriculture, Government of Goa.
Shri Chauhan appreciating the initiatives of Goa Government led by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant towards making Goa Swayampurna said Goa Government has utilised centrally sponsored schemes coupled with state schemes, employing manpower and resources properly to boost agricultural production and encourage mechanization of farming, setting a best example for other states in the country to emulate.
Goa, while upholding farmers interest has implemented various schemes to empower farmers thereby encouraging crop farming, horticulture, dairy farming, fish culture in the State which will go a long way to make Goa self reliant in the days to come.
Assuring to provide all sort of cooperation with regards to agriculture and rural development the Union Minister said the issue of Khajan Land will be considered and steps will be initiated to solve the same.
The Union Minister speaking further highlighted that Goa is successfully carrying ahead the campaign of Lakhpati Didi campaign for financial empowerment of Goan women. Due to this initiative, Goan women went abroad in countries like Mauritius, Singapore, Dubai and their participation in business fair is remarkable. He urged the people to work together with mutual cooperation to make our people self reliant and our nation at large. He expressed his willingness to come to Goa to have further interaction with Goan farmers.
In his deliberationin the during the virtual interaction the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said Goa is committed to the mission of Prime Minister to make our nation Atmanirbhar Bharat ie: self reliant India. To accomplish this objective the Government had initiated steps and employed manpower to reach centrally sponsored and state schemes to farmers in the State. Goa has better connectivity due to which Goa has been successful in mobilizing people regarding the mission Atmnirbhar Bharat and taking ahead Swayampurna Goa programme.
Under Horticulture Mission programme, the Chief Minister said that the Government has initiated steps to enhance crop, vegetable and dairy production in the State. He said the Government to encourage the people who worked with Government to make mission Swayampurna Goa successful were felicitated at the hands of Prime Minister. The Government works on the principle of Antyodaya and therefore strives to empower every citizen providing all necessary amenities for better living he reiterated.
Secretary Agriculture Shri Arun Kumar Mishra IAS, presented an overview of Goas agricultural scenario and achievements under various schemes in Goa.
Minister for Agriculture Shri Ravi Naik, MLAS, Director, DPSE Shri Vijay Saxena, Officers of Zonal Agriculture offices from Goa, Farmers, Students of Agricultural College, Stakeholders of Self Help Groups, Representatives local self bodies like Zilla Panchayat, Village Panchayats, Swayampurna Mitras from respective Village Panchayats / Municipal Councils /Corporation. and Taluka Nodal Officers to oversee were participated in virtual programme. The Director, DPSE Shri Vijay Saxena proposed the vote of thanks.
