Youth Congress leader Mahesh Nadar on Thursday slammed Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and local MLA Anton Vaz for failing to repair potholed roads of Zuari Nagar, under Cortalim and other areas of the state. He has threatened to launch statewide agitation if potholes on roads are not mend.

Mahesh Nadar, Working President of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress, on Thursday protested at Zuarinagar-Birla for the pathetic condition of roads. Youth Congress members and locals were also present.

He said that time and again Goa government has proved that it is insensitive to resolve issues pertaining to the state. “Chief Minister has failed to keep his word to repair all roads before Ganesh Chaturthi, which will be celebrated in the state from Saturday. Already many people have lost their lives due to the bad quality of roads, but he is not bothered of it,” Nadar said.

Nadar said that people of Cortalim are facing problems while moving on the roads, specially on two wheelers. “Two years back the government had said that ‘jetpatcher’ machines technology will mend the potholes on the roads, even during the rainy season. Though these machines are launched, why PWD failed to repair the roads,” Nadar questioned.

“If government fails to mend the roads in the next four days, then we will be forced to launch statewide agitation. Many people are supporting us on this issue as they are facing health issues due to the bad condition of roads,” Nadar said.

Nadar said that MLA Anton Vaz has neglected the constituency, although had given word to people that supporting BJP will help to make development. “He and BJP failed even to mend the roads. Hence, what more can be expected from them. MLA Vaz hoodwinked people of the constituency while supporting BJP,” Nadar said.

South Goa District Pradesh Congress Committee member and cluster head of Mormugao Taluka Mr. Peter Vaz said that the government is busy in only organising events and has no concern about people. “From events they get commission, hence for them organising events is a priority. Government doesn’t give priority to resolving public issues,” Vaz alleged.

Saquib Shaikh, state social media Cordinator and youths of Cortalim were present
