The Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ) congratulated GUJ member Sandeep Manerikar for winning the Vishnu Wagh award 2024 for his book ‘Sangeet Sursaadhak’.
Instituted by the Goa Marathi Academy, Vishnu Wagh award is an annual award presented to the best book on drama. Manerikar’s award winning book ‘Sangeet Sursaadhak’ is based on the life and work of legendary musician Baiju Bawra.
Manerikar is currently working as sub-editor at Navaprabha, a Marathi daily. He has 15 years of experience in journalism and has previously worked at Goa Doot as sub-editor. Manerikar has six books to his credit and it includes Gazali, Chavhato, Vyaadh, Prabhatiche Rang, Oghallele Moti and Sangeet Sursaadhak.
The award was presented to Manerikar in the presence of noted writer Milind Joshi and GMA president Anil Samant during the 8th anniversary of Goa Marathi Academy at Ravindra Bhavan, Vasco.
