BENAULIM MLA CHURCHILL ALEMAO HITS OUT AT MP FRANCISCO SARDINHA FOR CALLING HIM SMUGGLER
MARGAO: Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao on Thursday hit out at South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha for calling him a smuggler, claiming that the Court had given him a clean chit.
Addressing A press conference at his Varca office, Churchill sought to know how did Sardinha became his election agent for Lok Sabha elections in 2004 if he was smuggler. He accused Sardinha of taking support from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1999 to become the chief minister. He also alleged that Sardinha owned Rs 7 lakh to him.
Churchill said he had supported Pramod Sawant government for development of his Benaulim constituency. He alleged that Sardinha was involved in the Marks Scandal and the alleged ICICI Bond scam.
Churchill further accused Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat for allowing increase of coal transportation in Goa.
On Wednesday, Sardinha had ridiculed Churchill for demanding equal number of seats if Congress and NCP forge pre-poll alliance for 2022 Assembly elections.
Sardinha had also remarked that Churchill should tie-up with BJP for supporting them in the Assembly and charged him for engineering defection in 1989 after he was denied Ministerial berth.
