Porvorim police team with confiscated mobile phones, laptops, and Wi-Fi routers after raid on bungalow for illegal cricket betting at Salvador do Mundo.

PORVORIM: Porvorim police have apprehended five individuals for engaging in illegal cricket betting activities at a bungalow located in Salvador do Mundo. According to Police Inspector Rahul Parab, credible information was received regarding these unlawful betting operations in Bardez, Goa and in response, a specialized raiding team was assembled, and a raid was executed late at night on October 21.

During this operation, the team discovered five individuals accepting bets on various cricket leagues and other global sports events.

The arrested individuals include Ruchit Kumar from Bihar, Pranjal Bhati from Madhya Pradesh, Nikhil Kumar from Bihar, Kunal Kumar from Madhya Pradesh, and Vansh Sharma from Karnataka.

They were charged under sections 3 and 4 of the Goa Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act. The police also confiscated various items, including mobile phones, laptops, and Wi-Fi routers, with a total value of Rs 170,000.

The operation was overseen by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Vishwesh Karpe and Police Inspector Rahul Parab, and included constables Mahadev Naik, Tushar Raut, and Nitesh Gawde.
