PANAJI:  Gomantak   Editor  Raju Nayak  bagged the Best Editor Award for the category of National Integration and Communal Harmony for his Editorial “समता आणि बंधुतेची जिवंत प्रतीके!”, while the award in Rural Reporting has been bestowed on  Vivek Prabhu from Prudent Media for his report “100 year old flour mill at Savoi-verem fighting for existence” at the Goa State Journalists Awards Scheme instituted by the Department of Information and Publicity for the last calendar year.

The Government of Goa through the Department of Information and Publicity annually institutes awards namely, “The Goa State Journalist Awards” which are conferred in ten categories for news items and articles published during the previous calendar year. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/- each in different categories besides a certificate and a memento.

  The Goa State Journalist Awards scheme is devised to encourage local journalists to exhibit their talents as regards to penning good stories, gain confidence, thus resulting in creating mass awareness in the society.

 The award for Reporting in Health and Public Hygiene is bagged by Vikram Nayak of the Prudent Media for his report “Shocking Alert sancoale Residents catch water supply tanker while transporting sewage”. The award for Reporting with special reference to Women and Child/ Social issue is bagged by Swapnil Tari from Prudent for his report “Disability couldn’t disable Sukhada’s Ability” .  Marcus Mergulhao from Times of India bagged the award in Sport Reporting for his report ‘Siya’s Special Journey: From a remote Goa village to winning Olympic Gold’.

 The award on Reporting on Art and Culture is bagged by Shirish Kunkalekar of Prudent Media for his report ‘Zagor of Kunkoliem

       The award in PhotoJournalism (Best Photograph of the year) is bagged by Rajtilak Naik from Times of India for his picture ‘In the spirit of Nationalism while the award on Reporting on Education is bagged by Gauree Malkarnekar from Times of India for her report “UP, Raj, Odisha to use Goa coding, robotics edu model in pilot project”

  Ajay Lad attached to Goan Varta bagged the award on Reporting on Government achievement for his report “कामुर्ली पंचायत बनली ऊर्जेबाबत स्वयंपूर्ण”.

     The awards will be presented on the occasion of the National Press Day function to be held on November 16, 2024 in the city.

          The State Journalist awards committee comprised of  Professor Anju Sakhardande,  Assistant Professor Kuldeep Kamat  and   Senior Journalist  Vinayak Naik  were the judges for scrutinizing and deciding the awards .
