COUNCIL  AS CHIEF GOES ON LEAVE

MARGAO:  Margao Municipal Council  Vice-Chairperson Babita Naik assumed charge of the office of the Margao Municipal Chairperson on Monday.

Sources informed that Margao Municipal Chairperson Damu Shirodkar has proceeded on leave on Monday and is likely to resume duties next Monday. Before going on leave, Damu handed over the charge of his office to the Vice-Chairperson.

Taking charge on Monday, Babita presided over the routine duties of the civic body. “I will hold the charge of the office of Chairperson until Friday. Chairperson Damu will return to the office next Monday,” she said.

This is not the first time that Babita has assumed charge of the MMC Chairperson’s post. Previously, when she was holding the office of MMC Vice-Chairperson, Babita had presided over the affairs of the office of Chairperson in the absence of the Civic Chief.
