RACKET AS 32-YEAR-OLD ODISHA NATIVE HELD
PANAJI: The Crime Branch has apprehended Subhas Pradhan, a 32-year-old, originally from Odisha and currently residing in Candolim, for his alleged involved in prostitution activities in Goa. He was employed at a hotel and reportedly acted as an intermediary in these illicit activities.
Pradhan has been charged under CBPS FIR 117/2024, specifically under Section 67 of the Information Technology (IT) Act, Section 6 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, and Sections 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. This marks the fourth arrest related to this case.
Previously, two suspects were detained on November 10 in Madanapalle, Andhra Pradesh. They have been identified as Syed Usman, 54, from Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, and Mohammad Mohebbulla, 30, from Gurgaon. Additionally, a third suspect, Yogesh Kumar, aged 42 and hailing from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested in Delhi.
The accused were reportedly operating an escort website and managing a prostitution ring through a structured network of agents. They provided a contact number on the website for potential clients. Upon receiving confirmation from customers, the accused coordinated with others in the network to finalize the transactions.
Investigations have indicated that the accused facilitated these services by negotiating deals, with payments made through cash, Google Pay, or the Paytm mobile application. They received commissions for their roles in these activities. The investigation is ongoing, with efforts to identify further individuals involved in the case. The inquiry is being conducted by PI Tushar Lotliker and PI Dattaram Raut, under supervision f DySP Rajesh Kumar and SP (Crime Branch) Rahul Gupta, IPS.
