  3. KONKAN RAILWAY SIMPLIFIES APPROVAL PROCESS FOR PAD PRODUCTS

MARGAO:  As part of its efforts to elevate the travel experience, Konkan Railway Corporation has prioritized providing a variety of quality, branded packaged edible products at its stations. These products, available under the Proprietary Article Depot (PAD) category, include everyday favorites such as biscuits, chocolates, cakes, ice creams, chips, namkeens, aerated drinks, fruit juices, and more.

PAD products are exclusively available through static catering units at railway stations, offering passengers trusted and approved items. Only those products that meet the standards of the Railway administration are listed in the approved list can be sold in these units.

Konkan Railway has taken an initiative to simplify the approval process for Proprietary Article Depot (PAD) products detailed as under:

Year-Round Inclusion Procedure: Unlike the previous system that relied on periodic Tendering/shortlisting, Konkan Railway is now introducing a year-round inclusion procedure on a walk-in basis. This change ensures that interested parties can apply for inclusion at any time throughout the year. Manufacturers and franchisees interested in selling their products in Railway catering units can seek approval on walk-in basis throughout the year.

This initiative will encourage entrepreneurship by lowering barriers to entry, allowing a more diverse range of businesses to participate in providing services at railway stations. Konkan Railway Corporation is committed to fostering an environment that supports businesses and contributes to the overall growth of the region.

To further enhance accessibility, applications for inclusion in the approved list of items for sale can now be downloaded from Konkan Railway website www.konkanrailway.com under Department – Commercial – General Information – Application form for shortlisting of PAD.
