SHAREHOLDERS FILES COMPLAINT WITH MAMLATDAR
PONDA: A complaint has been lodged by shareholders with the Ponda Mamlatdar, asserting that the Cundaim Communidade Election was conducted without the necessary quorum.
The complaint seeks action against three members of the Cundaim Communidade Committee. It has been reported that the election for the positions of President, Treasurer, Attorney, and their respective substitutes for the term 2025-2028 was scheduled on Sunday. However, the election proceeded without a quorum, resulting in the retention of the current committee members in their positions.
Consequently, a request has been made for a fair election to be conducted for the Cundaim Communidade to ensure its betterment. Shareholders noted that during the previous election, a lack of quorum prevented the election from taking place. They had proposed their names for the committee positions, but despite objections, the existing committee members remained in their roles. This committee has reportedly failed to function effectively, as it has not convened any Annual General Meetings or ordinary meetings with the shareholders.
The situation on Sunday mirrored that of the previous election, with the same committee retaining its positions. The shareholders alleged that no AGMs have been held by the committee in the past three years.
They also expressed concerns regarding the allocation of Communidade land, stating that it should be reserved for locals or Goans for housing, yet land has been allocated to individuals from outside Goa. Therefore, it is requested that, given the absence of a quorum for the election, the existing committee members should not be allowed to continue. If a new committee is to be formed, it should include the undersigned shareholders. The complaint has been signed by 13 shareholders.
The clerk of the Communidade acknowledged receipt of complaints from several shareholders and indicated that he would forward them to the Administrator of the Communidade.
