MARGAO:  Unknown miscreants have damaged the side window glass of the car belonging to Congress Working Committee member and ex-GPCC President Girish Chodankar on Friday.

Girish has filed a complaint with the Fatorda police station on late Friday. Though he has not suspected any individual or organisation behind the incident, Girish has said the incident has taken place hours after he tweeted earlier in the morning calling a ban on the visit of T Raja Singh in the State during the weekend.

The incident occurred at the Holy Spirit Church Square on Friday evening when Girish had parked his car to attend a requiem mass at the Holy Spirit Church.

The incident came to light when Girish returned to his vehicle after the mass only to find his car’s side window broken.

He told  that though he did not lodge a police complaint immediately after the incident came to light, he finally decided to lodge the complaint as a matter of abundant caution. “I have not suspected anyone behind the incident, but the incident has come hours after I had demanded a ban on T Raja Singh’s visit to Goa, he said.

Earlier,  Chodankar had strongly condemned the BJP government’s decision to invite T Raja Singh, a polarising figure with a history of hate speech and communal rhetoric, to the State.

Girish had termed the invitation as an attempt to divert attention from the governance failures while sowing seeds of communal discord ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
