CANACONA: Janasena Warriors, led by Janardhan Bhandari and operating under the banner of Vision & Mission … Progressive Canacona, have issued a seven-day ultimatum to Lalit Golf and Spa and Hotel Cloud 9.
They are demanding that 75 percent of job positions in these hotel establishments be reserved for local residents, along with the allocation of various supply and other contracts to the local populace of Canacona.
The Warriors have warned that failure to comply will result in further action.
In a statement to the media following the submission of a memorandum to the management of both five-star resorts, Janardhan Bhandari explained that they were prompted to meet with the resort managements due to persistent requests from unemployed youth in Canacona, who are seeking solutions to the local unemployment crisis.
The chief of Janasena Warriors emphasized that if the residents of Canacona have sacrificed their valuable land and shared their resources and infrastructure with these five-star resorts, it is only fair that they receive adequate benefits in the form of employment opportunities within these establishments.
Present during the memorandum submission were Councillor Shubham Komarpant, JANASENA Canacona Convenor Vaishnav Pednekar, Co-Convenor Cleston Viegas, and other members of the Janasena Warriors.
