The Goa Liberation Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at historic Kranti Maidan, Ponda today where Agriculture Minister, Shri Ravi Naik paid floral tributes to Martyrs memorial, unfurled the national tri-colour and inspected the guard of honour.
While addressing the gathering Shri Naik said that Goa has renowned for it’s unity. He said that there is a need to promote national integration and communal harmony among people of different faiths. He also extended greetings to the people of State for upholding communal harmony since Liberation. Shri Naik highlighted Dr Ram Manohar Lohia’s substantial contributions to the liberation of Goa from Portuguese rule. Young generation should always cherish this historic movement and work for betterment of the State, the Minister added.
He said, under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant Nation is heading in the right direction. We honor the journey and look forward to a future where Goa thrives as a beacon of harmony, culture, and prosperity Naik added.
Goa, he said though being a small State has seen noteworthy development in almost all the sectors – be it in education, culture, infrastructure, sports and health over the years. He urged all the communities to cooperate and work together to usher in progress and development in all areas of human endeavor.
Minister also highlighted the importance of implementation of the ‘One nation, One election’ bill.

Students from A.J. de Almeida High school, Pragati Vidyalaya, Borim, Lokvishwas Prathisthan Dhavali, Government High School, Ponda, Government High school Betora, Government High school, Juna Bazaar, Government High school, Dhaushire, MIBK High school, Khandepar and S. S. Samiti’s High school, Dhavali Ponda presented cultural programmes on the occasion.
Earlier on his arrival at Kranti Maidan, the Agriculture Minister was received by Shri Shubham Naik, Dy. Collector and SDO, Ponda and Shivram Vaigankar, Dy. SP.
