PANAI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Monday said that fugitive Siddiqui Suleman Khan, who had escaped from police custody after being arrested in connection with the land grab scam, was arrested in Kerala.
Sawant told reporters that Khan was arrested in Kerala two days ago and he would be brought to Goa today (Monday).
The accused, who was arrested in connection with the land grab cases, had escaped from the police custody of the Special Investigation Team (Crime Branch) at Ribandar on December 12.
A shocking video surfaced showing one of the police constables opening the lock of the custody and helping Khan escape on a motorcycle. Khan later released a video in which he blamed a BJP MLA and a senior Crime Branch official for helping with his escape.
The Chief Minister told reporters that the interrogation of Khan will reveal the exact people who were behind his custodial escape.
Referring to the protests by opposition parties, including AAP, Sawant said that the opposition party leaders were going around with his photograph as if they wanted to induct him into their party.
Meanwhile, the entire episode took a sudden twist when a section of the media carried Khan’s video, in which he claimed that Palekar had asked him to release the earlier videos, besides accusing him of editing the videos.
