
PANAJI: Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd (IPSCDL) announces temporary road closures in Central Panaji as part of Phase-II infrastructure development. The closures will be effective from 18 January to 7 February, with partial reopening scheduled on 2nd February 2025. The details for each affected road and their respective alternative routes are as follows:
1. MG Road (Don Bosco School to UCO Bank, 354 meters) – This section of MG Road will remain closed for utility and infrastructure upgrades. To access Don Bosco School and Panaji Market, commuters can divert at UCO Bank to P Shirgaonkar Road, then proceed via AB Road and take Government Pestana Road from the old Education Dept Building.
2. MG Road (Liberty Showroom to Vinanti Restaurant, 170 meters) – This stretch of MG Road will be partially closed during the development works. The road will remain half open, allowing vehicles to move without needing alternative routes.
3. TB Cunha Road (Café Bhosle Road to DB Road Junction, 230 meters) – TB Cunha Road will undergo significant development work, including laying of utility ducts and stormwater drains. Commuters heading to Café Bhosle are advised to use Menezes Braganza Road as an alternative route.
4. 18th June Road (NGPDA Culvert to Caculo Island, 140 meters) – This section of 18th June Road will be closed for utility and stormwater drain works. Motorists are requested to use nearby parallel routes to navigate through the area.
5. Cunha Rivera Road (Vinanti Restaurant to DB Road Junction, 40 meters) – For vehicles heading to DB Road, the alternative route is via the exit from River Mandovi Hotel and Swami Vivekananda Road in front of Panaji Police Station.
6.Taad Maad Temple to STP Bridge, Tonca (200 meters) -This road will remain closed from 18th January 2025 to 31st March 2025 for laying of the main sewerage trunk line of 710 dia, construction of manholes, house connection chambers, utility chambers , utility ducts and crossings.
The development works include utility ducts and crossings, storm water drains, utility chambers, footpaths, parking area development, bitumen road laying, installation of streetlight poles, landscaping with tree plantations and road painting. While the roads will become operational from 2nd February 2025, works such as the erection of electrical poles, signage installation, tree planting and final painting will continue until 7th February 2025.
IPSCDL requests all commuters to adhere to the designated diversions and plan their routes accordingly. IPSCDL regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates the cooperation of the people in making Panaji a smarter and more sustainable city.
