KOCHI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant visited and offered tributes at the Memorial of Appu Bhat, Vinayak Pandit, and Ranga Bhat at Kochi, who authored the 17th-century botanical treatise ‘Hortus Malabaricus’.

Chief Minister highlighted the significant role played by these three Konkani physicians in the compilation of the treatise and their contribution in drawing more than 700 sketches of various species. He acknowledged their effort in providing a testimony (certificate) under their signatures, written in Konkani (Devanagari script), which is also printed in one of the volumes.

Chief Minister noted that the book is credited for the first block printing of Konkani, Devanagari script, and Malayalam.
