  4. AAP’s Adv Surel Tilve expresses concern over Ponda Postmen’s layoffs

The Aam Aadmi Party Vice President Adv. Surel Tilve on Monday expressed his concern over the layoffs at Ponda post office.

During the press conference held in Ponda, Tilve informed the media that the Postmen, who have worked as Postmen for over a decade, suddenly asked to hand over their official mobiles and were relieved from their duties on Monday onwards.

Tilve said, “It is totally unfair to remove these Postmen from their jobs without prior notice, even though they were working on a daily wage basis”.

Tilve revealed that Maharashtra Postmen are now being recruited to fill the same position in the post office.

Further he said, “Recently, Nirmala Sitaraman, Minister of Finance, urged banks to recruit people who are well versed in the local language. The same principle should be applied while recruiting for post offices as well.”

In an attempt to resolve this issue, these Postmen met with CM Pramod Sawant, North and South MPs but nothing has been done as of yet. Tilve requested that CM look into this matter on a priority basis and act immediately.
