MAINA-CURTORIM POLICE ON WEDNESDAY REGISTERED A CASE AGAINST ACTIVISTS OF GOYANT KOLLSO NAKA

MARGAO: The Maina-Curtorim police on Wednesday registered a case against activists of Goyant Kollso Naka for forming unlawful assembly, rioting and wrongful confinement at Guirdolim-Chandor railway crossing on Sunday.

The case was registered under sections 143, 147 and 342 read with 149 of IPC. Protestors had blocked the railway tracks from Sunday night to early Monday morning protesting the work of laying railway double track.

According to the police, the protestors with their common object formed unlawful assembly and thereafter wrongfully restrained movement of traffic and pedestrians by standing on middle of the road. Case has been registered against six persons who were organisers and others.

Hundreds of protestors including political party leaders staged protest at Guirdolim-Chandor railway crossing on Sunday night opposing the work of laying double track. Meanwhile, the organisers have again threatened to block railway track at Davorlim on the night of Sunday, November 8 if the government fails to revoke the order of the South Goa Collector permitting road closure a Davorlim railway crossing
