Goa TMC General Secretary and Panch of Netravali VP, Rakhi Prabhudessai Naik, organized a free eye check-up camp in Sanguem. Present at the inauguration ceremony were Senior Consultant and Ophthalmologist Dr. Kaushik Hegde, General Secretary, Mahalaxmi Society, Netravali Somanath Naik, ST leader Ulhas Gaonkar, and Goa TMC youth leader Francis Costa. More than 500 beneficiaries registered from Netravali and adjoining areas. Women in large numbers, cutting across age groups, thronged the venue.

Highlighting the objective behind the initiative, Goa TMC General Secretary Rakhi Naik said, ‘Eyesight like all the other senses is vital for survival. This camp was imperative to ensure that locals in Sanguem are well versed with proper eye care techniques so as to avoid the risk of serious eye-specific diseases. Women must have their eyes tested regularly because they are at a higher risk of vision loss and often they develop diseases such as cataract, dry eye, glaucoma, and low vision.’

She went on to add that, ‘The Goa Trinamool Congress is at the forefront of social work and activities related to social welfare. This free eye check-up camp is an initiative in the right direction without any political agenda.’

Reiterating the party’s commitment to the people of Goa, Naik said, ‘We have ensured that more than 60 patients who are unable to afford the cataract surgery are operated at a nominal amount of Rs. 5000. We firmly believe in serving and building a society that is healthy and prosperous. Our eye camp has provided care for more than 500 people and provided glasses for more than 200 patients.’ She further added, ‘Under the leadership of our Chairperson Mamata Banerjee, we will organize more social welfare activities. Our party is focused on impacting the lives of everyone in the constituency and across the state.’
